Behind every photograph captured on vintage 35mm film lies a breathing memory. For Kana and Take’s pre-wedding photoshoot in Bangkok, we decided to break away from stiff studio backdrops and embrace the raw, electric energy of Thailand’s capital. As a professional Bangkok film pre-wedding photographer, I chose to capture their journey using the legendary Contax TVS film camera. The continuous zoom and sharp Zeiss lens brought out a cinematic, nostalgic charm that digital sensors simply cannot replicate.
Our romantic urban itinerary kicked off at the scenic Wat Pho Pier (Tha Tien). Located directly opposite the iconic Wat Arun (The Temple of Dawn), this spot offers a panoramic view of the majestic prang rising above the Chao Phraya River. In the soft, diffused afternoon light, Kana’s voluminous tulle wedding gown and Take’s classic tweed vest set a beautiful, timeless contrast against the historic riverfront. From playful moments with custom ‘0215’ cow-print balloons to a romantic kiss framed by the architectural beauty of Wat Arun across the water, the analog grain added an emotional depth to every frame.
As twilight faded, the story shifted into high gear as we headed into the bustling streets of Chinatown (Yaowarat) and local night markets. This is where Bangkok truly wakes up. Working as their Bangkok film pre-wedding photographer, I switched to a direct-flash film technique to capture the couple fully immersing themselves in the local culture. Kana and Take traded a formal dinner for plastic stools on the roadside, happily sharing a steaming bowl of traditional fish maw soup (Kra-Phao Pla) and sweet mango sticky rice under the warm glow of street-food carts.
The highlight of the night was a chaotic yet incredibly fun ride on a classic Thai Tuk-Tuk. Zipping through Yaowarat’s iconic neon signage, the slow shutter speeds of the Contax TVS allowed the city’s traffic lights to streak beautifully in the background, framing Kana stealing a sweet kiss on Take’s cheek. The festive atmosphere was elevated by the local birthday banner attached to our Tuk-Tuk celebrating Likay star Anothai Aneklap, giving the images an irreplaceable, authentic slice-of-life Thai flavor. We wrapped up the cinematic night session at a night market stall, clinking local Chang beer cans under neon pink flamingo lights.
For travelers and couples visiting Bangkok, this film street photography session proves that your pre-wedding portraits can be a fun, experiential date night. As a dedicated Bangkok film pre-wedding photographer, my goal is to blend your unique love story with the unfiltered, beautiful chaos of the city’s most famous landmarks.
